Conduct of ward rounds
- Business round
- Ensure a summary in the notes is written with information for nursing staff
- Ask the patient if they have any problems
- Establish (1) eating and drinking (2) mobility (3) analgesic control
- Review the observations (1) Temperature (2) blood pressure trends (3) oxygen saturations (4) weight (5) fluid balance and drains
- Examine the patient (1) Pulse (2) JVP (3) Ankles (4) Sternal mobility (5) heart sounds (6) breath sounds
- Check BM chart
- Review bloods from previous day
- Review ECG
- Check CXR - Day 1, day 4
- Make a clear plan
- Review round
- Review bloods
- Review X-rays
